I sort of stumbled into my pencil drawings by accident and really get the most pleasure from them. During my watercolor instruction, I was encouraged to do a "value sketch", a kind of road map for my paintings. Of course, my value sketches were created with more detail than was really necessary and I came to like them better than the paintings ultimately produced from them. I feel free and relaxed when I'm drawing with that simple tool — the pencil.

Commissions of your home or favorite pet, from your photograph, in my primary mediums (watercolor or pencil) are welcome. Portraiture is something I'm still trying to perfect in pencil, and once I'm comfortable with my technique and happy with the outcome, I'll be offering pencil portrait commissions as well.
