I paint my world, as most artists do. Watercolor presents a particular challenge for me because I enjoy detail. So from the start I began trying to control this water medium. I try to bring a balance and create a harmony between the spontaneous and the controlled. I particularly enjoy the wet-on-wet washes I use to create the skies in my many landscapes and just let the paint do the work. The rest is done with small brushes (probably too small) to create the trees and houses and so on. When things are going righ t— it's just plain fun.
